Executive Mansion
Seated next to the Capitol building in Richmond is the home of Virginia's Governors, the Executive Mansion - the oldest continually occupied governor’s residence built for that purpose in the United States.
The Executive Mansion was built during the War of 1812, which completed the separation of the United States from England, begun during the Revolutionary War. In 2013, during Governor McDonnell's term, the Mansion's 200th anniversary will be celebrated.
