Virginia Career Week
WHEREAS, career awareness and planning are very important to all young citizens in the Commonwealth of Virginia in choosing a career of interest that will lead to gainful employment and personal fulfillment; and
WHEREAS, career information, further education and training are essential parts of preparing young citizens to be able to explore and understand the preparation and skills needed to be successful in a specific career; and
WHEREAS, all students should have an understanding of current and projected career options that are and will be available to them in the job market; and
WHEREAS, our economic development and stability depend upon our youth to be prepared to meet the current and future job market demands; and
WHEREAS, the involvement of local business and industry volunteers in schools is invaluable in raising awareness about careers; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for students to understand the magnitude of the numerous career opportunities and qualifications for high skill, high wage and high demand jobs that are available in their community, region, state and nation; and
WHEREAS, Virginia Career Week helps prepare all young citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia in making sound career decisions
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Timothy M. Kaine, do hereby recognize October 11-17, 2009 as VIRGINIA CAREER WEEK in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
