We also issue all formal directives from the Governor on flying both the national and state flags.

Also of Note
In honor of our fallen service members, Governor Kaine has authorized that the home locality of any Virginia Military personnel that dies while serving on active duty may lower to half-staff federal, state, and local flags in their memory. The flag(s) may remain lowered until the day of interment. (This directive is good until further notice.)
