Governor Kaine Announces Additional Appointments
RICHMOND – Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced additional appointments.
Clyde E. Cristman of Glen Allen will serve as Deputy Secretary of Public Safety. Cristman previously served as Director of the Department of Charitable Gaming and held several leadership roles within the criminal justice system. He has over 22 years of service in state and local government programs.
Leonard G. Cooke of Richmond will continue to serve as Director of the Department of Criminal Justice Services, a position he has held since 2002. Cooke previously served as Chief of Police in Portsmouth, and has had over 30 years experience in law enforcement and public safety.
Robert W. Mathieson of Virginia Beach will continue to serve as Deputy Director of Criminal Justice Services, a position he has held since 2002. Mathieson previously served as Master Police Officer in the Virginia Beach Police Department, and has over 30 years experience in law enforcement and public safety.
Carol A. Sievers of Newport News will serve as Vice Chair of the Parole Board. Sievers previously served as Victim Representative on the Parole Board, and has worked in public service for over 30 years.
Herbert V. Coulton of Petersburg will continue to serve as a part-time Parole Board member. Coulton previously served for the Life Insurance Company of Virginia, and has dedicated almost 50 years to public service.
Jay W. DeBoer of Sutherland has been appointed Director of the Department of Professional Occupational Regulation. DeBoer last served as the Commissioner of the Virginia Department for the Aging, and was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates for 19 years.
David B. Ashe of Virginia Beach has been appointed Deputy Director of Professional Occupational Regulation. Ashe was staff counsel for GEICO Insurance from 2003 to 2004, and served as a policy analyst for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He is an Iraq war veteran.
