Governor Kaine Announces Additional Appointments
RICHMOND – Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced several additional appointments.
Esther H. Vassar of Newport News will serve as Chair of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. She has served as a Commissioner on the Board since her appointment in 2002. Vassar, who has over 20 years experience in higher education, also has served as Director of the Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise.
Susan R. Swecker of Highland County will serve as Commissioner on the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. She is a former Senior Vice President for McGuire Woods Consulting and recently served as campaign manager in Creigh Deeds’ bid for Virginia Attorney General.
Pamela O’Berry Evans of Richmond will serve as Commissioner on the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. She recently served as General Counsel for the Richmond Police Department and was a Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney in Richmond for seven years.
W. Curtis Coleburn of Midlothian will continue to serve as Chief Operating Officer of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, a position he has held since 1999. Coleburn, who previously served eight years with the Virginia State Police, has 20 years experience in state government.
Julie Christopher of Richmond will serve as Commissioner of the Department for the Aging. Since 2002, Christopher has served on the Virginia State Board of Social Services, including two terms as the board’s chair.
Maurice A. Henderson, II, of Richmond will serve as Deputy Press Secretary in the Governor’s Communications Office. Previously, Henderson worked in communications for the United Steelworkers of America and as the Northeast Regional Communications Director for America Coming Together in 2004.
Jennie P. Moline of Alexandria will serve as Special Assistant to the Governor for Policy. Previously, Moline served as the Regional Field Director for Central Virginia on Governor Kaine’s gubernatorial campaign.
