Governor-Elect Bob McDonnell Announces Transition Leadership Team
RICHMOND- Virginia Governor-elect Bob McDonnell announced his transition leadership team today in an early afternoon press conference held at the State Capitol in Richmond.
Serving as the Co-Chairs of McDonnell's Transition Committee will be:
Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling
In 2005 Bolling was elected to serve as the 40th Lieutenant Governor of Virginia. Yesterday he was re-elected to a second term. Prior to serving as Lieutenant Governor, Bolling represented the 4th District in the State Senate of Virginia.
Attorney General William C. Mims
Mims is the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Prior to serving as Attorney General, Mims served under then-Attorney General Bob McDonnell as his Chief Deputy. Mims represented Loudoun County in the House of Delegates and State Senate.
Thomas F. Farrell
Farrell is currently the Chairman, President and CEO of Dominion Power. Farrell is a longtime friend of the Governor-elect, and the two attended Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria together.
Bobbie Kilberg
Kilberg was named president of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) in September 1998. As president and CEO, Kilberg leads and manages the largest technology council in the nation with about 1,100 member companies employing 185,000 people.
Kay Cole James
James served as Secretary of Health and Human Resources under former Governor George Allen. In 2001, James was confirmed as the Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. She is currently the President and Founder of The Gloucester Institute, an organization that trains and nurtures leaders in the African American community.
In addition to announcing the co-chairs of the transition committee, McDonnell also announced the first two transition staff members:
Phil Cox will serve as Transition Director. He previously served as campaign manager for McDonnell's gubernatorial campaign.
Tucker Martin will serve as Communications Director. He served in the same capacity for McDonnell's gubernatorial campaign.
