Governor-Elect Tim Kaine Names Senior Members of Finance Secretariat

Richmond – Governor-elect Timothy M. Kaine today announced the appointments of senior members of the Finance Secretariat.

Manju S. Ganeriwala will serve as Deputy Secretary of Finance. Ganeriwala previously served as Deputy Director for Finance and Administration in the Department of Medical Assistance Services and has served in state government for 20 years.

Janie E. Bowen will serve as Deputy Secretary of Finance. Bowen previously served as Executive Commissioner for Policy in Administration in the Virginia Department of Taxation, where she has served for 27 years.

J. Braxton Powell will serve as State Treasurer of Virginia. Powell previously had served as Deputy State Treasurer since 2000 and has been with the Department of Treasury for 22 years.

David A. Von Moll will continue to serve as State Comptroller. Governor Mark R. Warner appointed Von Moll State Comptroller in 2002. He has served in the Department of Accounts for over 20 years.

Kenneth W. Thorson will continue to serve as the Commonwealth’s Tax Commissioner. Governor Warner appointed Thorson Tax Commissioner in 2002.
