Flags are at full staff today.
National Memorial Day
The flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia shall be flown at half-staff on all local, state, and federal buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia as part of the National Memorial Day.
It is further encouraged that where possible, the POW/MIA flag that is normally displayed be flown on all public buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia on Memorial Day, May 27, 2013, in honor and remembrance of the service and sacrifice of members of the armed forces of the United States who are or were prisoners of war or reported missing in action.
The flags shall be lowered at sunrise on Monday, May 27, 2013, and remain at half-staff until noon only, then raised to the top of the staff.
Flag Information
Our Community Relations Department helps manage flag requests and questions about the use of the Virginia flag.
We also issue all formal directives from the Governor on flying both the national and state flags.
