Virginia Circuit Court Appointments
Pursuant to the authority vested in him by Article VI, Section 7 of the Constitution of Virginia, Governor Timothy M. Kaine intends to appoint successors to:
- Judge Thomas Shadrick of the 2nd Circuit Court
- Judge Alfred Tripp of the 4th Circuit Court
- Judge Jerome James of the 4th Circuit Court
- Judge Charles Griffith of the 4th Circuit Court
- Judge William Andrews of the 8th Circuit Court
- Judge John W. Scott, Jr. of the 15th Circuit Court
- Judge Robert Wooldridge of the 19th Circuit Court
As part of his process for the review of candidates for these positions, the Governor is accepting expressions of interest from persons who are qualified to serve on a Virginia Circuit Court. Information about minimum required qualifications can be found in Article VI of the Virginia Constitution.
The Governor also will consider information and recommendations on qualified individuals to fill this vacancy from the statewide and local bar associations of the Commonwealth as well as the public. Those expressing interest in these positions should provide the following information:
- A current résumé.
- Responses to the Judicial Selection Questionnaire.
- Sitting judges should submit the Sitting Judges Judicial Selection Questionnaire (Word, 43kb | PDF, 105kb).
- Lawyers who are not currently judges should submit the Judicial Selection Questionnaire (Word, 54kb | PDF, 96kb).
- A brief writing sample.
- A Statement of Economic Interest (pdf, 265 k) which can be found at:
