Governor Kaine Requests Federal Disaster Assistance in Wake of Nor'easter

November 21 — Governor Timothy M. Kaine has requested federal disaster assistance for localities in Virginia that suffered damage from the Nor'easter that occurred November 11-15. The Governor's request calls for low-interest loans for homeowners and renters and funds to assist local governments in making repairs.

"I've seen firsthand the damage inflicted on Virginians as a result of last week's nor'easter and it's clear the impact will be felt for some time to come," Governor Kaine said. "As we continue to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of the storm, it's critical we receive federal relief to help our businesses and citizens recover as quickly as possible."
