RICHMOND—Governor Northam today issued the following statement on the passing of Stan Brock, the founder and president of Remote Area Medical (RAM).
“Stan Brock’s vision to create the Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinic helped connect thousands of Virginians to care, and highlighted the tremendous need for healthcare access in this country. We owe the passage of Medicaid expansion in the Commonwealth to the work of tireless advocates like Stan, and I am grateful that I had the chance to see him at this year’s RAM clinic in Wise, to share my gratitude for his work and that achievement. I am better for having spent time in Stan’s company volunteering at RAM over the years, both as a public servant and provider. I will miss his extraordinary spirit, but am confident it will endure through volunteers continuing his important life’s work.”
