Governor Northam Announces Administration Appointments

RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam announced additional appointments to his Administration today.
 

Secretariat of Public Safety and Homeland Security

Erin Sutton, Chief Deputy, Virginia Department of Emergency Management
Erin Sutton has been appointed Chief Deputy at the Virginia Department of Emergency Management. Erin has worked in emergency planning and management for the last 15 years, most recently serving as Director of the City of Virginia Beach Office of Emergency Management since 2014. She has also held positions with the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health, developing the Virginia Beach Medical Reserve Corps and leading the citywide pandemic planning effort as Emergency Planner. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Radford University and her Master of Science in Microbiology and Immunology from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She is a Certified Emergency Manager and Certified Floodplain Manager and has her Project Management Professional certification.

Secretariat of Veterans and Defense Affairs

Tom Crabbs, Military Liaison, Office of the Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs
Tom Crabbs has been appointed Military Liaison for the Office of the Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs. Tom previously served as Statewide Interoperability Coordinator in the Office of the Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security, where he supported public safety communication and technology solutions among local, state, federal, and private sector stakeholders. He is a retired United States Coast Guard captain who served as Chief of Staff for the Coast Guard Pacific Area and whose career included multiple command tours at sea and ashore. Tom earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Elon College, and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University.
