Governor Northam Announces Administration Appointments

RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam announced additional appointments to his Administration today.

Office of the Governor

Craig Fifer, Director of the Virginia Office of Intergovernmental Affairs
Craig Fifer has been appointed Director of the Virginia Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. In January 2021, Governor Northam appointed Fifer as his liaison to Virginia's local governments via an executive loan from the City of Alexandria, where Fifer served as the Director of Communications and Public Information since 2014. Fifer served in various positions with the City of Alexandria since 2003, for the City of Roanoke from 1996 to 2003, and for the Roanoke City Public Schools from 1994 to 1996. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Virginia Tech and a master's degree in public administration from George Mason University, where he is an adjunct professor of ethics for public administrators. He is also a graduate of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership and the Senior Executive Institute, both at the University of Virginia.
