WHEREAS, in June 2020, The Virginia Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers and Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA) is celebrating 100 years of licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors in the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the APELSCIDLA Board for the past 100 years has been to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, there are currently 7,523 Architects, 29,623 Professional Engineers and 1,360 Land Surveyors licensed to practice in Virginia for a total of over 38,500 licensed professionals; and
WHEREAS, the APELSCIDLA Board acknowledges the significant contributions of these three distinguished professions to the Commonwealth over the last century; and
WHEREAS, the APELSCIDLA Board is only the second board at the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) to reach its Centennial milestone;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize June 2020 as the APELSCIDLA BOARD CENTENNIAL in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
