WHEREAS, the men and women of our Armed Forces work together to protect and serve the citizens of the United States; and
WHEREAS, throughout our nation’s history, many of these patriots have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms; and
WHEREAS, these fallen service members return home to their families where a folded flag represents the most solemn of rites; and
WHEREAS, citizens of Virginia will give pause and remember the sacrifice of our fallen patriots, as well as the children they have left behind; and
WHEREAS, Virginia is proud to be recognize Children of Fallen Patriots Day on May 13, thus celebrating the past, present, and future of Virginia’s long-standing support for the children of our fallen patriots;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize May 13, 2018, as CHILDREN OF FALLEN PATRIOTS DAY in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
