WHEREAS, the health and safety of all Virginians are of the utmost importance to the prosperity and livelihood of our Commonwealth’s citizens, families, and communities; and
WHEREAS, healthcare security and safety officers are dedicated and caring individuals who serve citizens and healthcare facilities every day; and
WHEREAS, healthcare security and safety officers work tirelessly to provide a safe and secure healthcare environment, and their efforts support a community of care that is conducive to quality treatment for patients and their families; and
WHEREAS, healthcare security and safety officers work closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement to help reduce crime in our communities; and
WHEREAS, healthcare security and safety officers enhance emergency response capabilities that make their communities stronger and more prepared during times of disaster; and
WHEREAS, healthcare security and safety officers selflessly put themselves on the front line every day, demonstrating their dedication and commitment to serving others; and
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia recognizes the tireless dedication of healthcare security and safety officers and the protection that they provide for our healthcare community;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize October 14-20, 2018, as HEALTHCARE SECURITY AND SAFETY WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
