WHEREAS, pest management professionals are tasked with protecting society from the problems pests cause, including health issues, destruction of property, and damage to the environment; and
WHEREAS, effective pest management in homes, businesses, and public places throughout our Commonwealth is an important factor in maintaining the health and well-being of all Virginians; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Pest Management Association is a leader in the Commonwealth, and protects our environment by ensuring the safe and effective use of pest management materials; and
WHEREAS, the National Pest Management Association is committed to educating the public about the dangers to people and property posed by pests; and
WHEREAS, Pest Management Month offers all Virginians an opportunity to understand and appreciate the important role that pest management providers play in protecting their health and well-being;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize April 2018 as PEST MANAGEMENT MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
