WHEREAS, the National Automatic Merchandising Association has designated March 7th as “National Vending Day”; and
WHEREAS, the vending and convenience services industry employs over four thousand Virginians and generates an economic output of more than $650 million; and
WHEREAS, the vending industry has expanded in recent decades to include a wide array of convenience services and refreshments; and
WHEREAS, the vending machine industry uses cutting edge technology to deliver innovative options to consumers; and
WHEREAS, through the Randolph-Sheppard Vending Program, the vending industry has provided crucial business opportunities for blind persons in Virginia; and
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia is thankful for the dozens of small business owners who own and operate vending machine companies in Virginia;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize March 7, 2019, as VENDING MACHINE DAY in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
