By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

251st Birthday of the United States Army

WHEREAS, on June 14, 1775, the Continental Army was established to defend our nation and its citizens; and

WHEREAS, for 251 years, the United States Army has steadfastly defended the nation in times of peace and conflict to preserve democracy and protect freedom; and

WHEREAS, Virginia is proud to be home to more than 113,791 active duty, reserve, and National Guard soldiers and their families; and

WHEREAS, the men and women who proudly serve as soldiers in the United States Army, along with their families, make significant sacrifices in defense of our nation and its freedoms; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth remains committed to honoring all service members by ensuring they are treated with the utmost respect and dignity, and by supporting their quality of life; and

WHEREAS, today we celebrate the unwavering strength, professionalism, resilience and bravery of our soldiers in the All-Volunteer force;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, Governor, do hereby recognize June 14, 2026, as the 251st BIRTHDAY OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
