WHEREAS, health care security and safety officers are a dedicated and caring group of individuals who serve citizens and healthcare facilities every day; and

 

WHEREAS, health care security and safety are critical to ensuring quality care and safe environments for patients, visitors, and health care professionals; and

 

WHEREAS, health care security and safety officers serve as first responders to security, safety, and criminal incidents in health care settings; and

 

WHEREAS, the professionalism, courage, and commitment of health care security and safety officers enable them to respond effectively to the diverse and evolving security needs of the Commonwealth’s health care community; and

 

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia recognizes the tireless dedication of health care security and safety officers and the protection that they provide for our healthcare community;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, Governor, do hereby recognize October 11-17, 2026, as HEALTH CARE SECURITY AND SAFETY WEEK in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA and I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens.
