By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

National Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus Awareness Day

WHEREAS, Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus (NDI) is a rare genetic and sometimes acquired disorder that impairs the kidneys’ ability to concentrate urine, leading to excessive thirst, dehydration risk, and significant daily challenges for those affected; and

WHEREAS, NDI often presents in infancy or early childhood, requiring families to navigate complex medical needs, frequent monitoring, and lifelong management to ensure safety and quality of life; and

WHEREAS, increased awareness of NDI is essential to improving early diagnosis, expanding research, and strengthening support for individuals, families, and caregivers who face the physical, emotional, and financial impacts of this condition; and

WHEREAS, healthcare professionals, researchers, and advocacy organizations across the nation continue to advance understanding of NDI, promote improved treatments, and work toward better outcomes for those living with this rare disorder; and

WHEREAS, National Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus Awareness Day provides an opportunity to educate the public, encourage early recognition of symptoms, and highlight the importance of continued research and community support; and

WHEREAS, recognizing this day affirms our commitment to fostering compassion, expanding knowledge, and supporting all individuals and families affected by NDI;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, do hereby recognize April 14, 2026, as NATIONAL NEPHROGENIC DIABETES INSIPIDUS AWARENESS DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA and encourage all residents to learn about NDI, support affected families, and promote continued research and understanding of this rare condition.
