WHEREAS, the 32nd annual Pakistan Festival celebrates the 71st anniversary of Pakistan’s independence; and
WHEREAS, the Pakistan Festival offers a variety of food and entertainment, including authentic Pakistani cuisine, musical performances, youth events, and booths of Pakistani jewelry, artifacts, and crafts; and
WHEREAS, the Pakistan Festival celebrates the thousands of Pakistani-Americans in the Commonwealth, whose abilities and contributions strengthen Virginia’s economy, culture, and communities; and
WHEREAS, this celebration of Pakistan’s independence promotes the guiding principles of the creation of Pakistan – unity, faith, and discipline; and
WHEREAS, the Pakistan Festival has been recognized in the Unites States House of Representatives as one of the largest annual events celebrating Pakistan’s independence;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize September 2, 2018, as the 32ND ANNUAL PAKISTAN FESTIVAL in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
