WHEREAS, the fiscal health and well-being of Virginia’s people, businesses, and institutions is critical to the continued vitality and prosperity of the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) in Virginia must maintain high standards of ethics, professionalism, and knowledge by maintaining and enhancing their skills through continuing professional education; and
WHEREAS, CPAs provide accounting and auditing services, management advisory services, and individual as well as corporate tax and financial planning advice; and
WHEREAS, CPAs in Virginia draw upon their unique knowledge and experiences to provide sound, reliable financial counsel in order to protect and promote the growth of business, the soundness of government operations, the excellence of higher education, and the confidence of investors in the Commonwealth of Virginia and throughout the United States of America; and
WHEREAS, Certified Public Accountant Week recognizes CPAs for their hard work and the positive impact they have in communities and businesses throughout Virginia;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize September 16-22, 2018, as CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
