WHEREAS, Children’s Environmental Health Day was created on October 13, 2016, by the Children’s Environmental Health in order to safeguard the health, safety, and wellbeing of the United States’ most vulnerable population; and
WHEREAS, Children’s Environmental Health Day is an opportunity to celebrate progress of the children’s environmental health movement and create a strong network of child health advocates; and
WHEREAS, this day, to be celebrated annually on the second Thursday of October, is a national effort supported by individuals, non-profit organizations, and government agencies; and
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia encourages individuals and organizations to seek improved protections for all children and to perform acts of sustainability; and
WHEREAS, Children’s Environmental Health Day raises awareness for the importance of clean air and water, safe food and consumer products, and healthy environments on a child’s health and development; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize October 14, 2021, as CHILDREN’S ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DAY in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
