WHEREAS, it is essential to the Commonwealth that its residents are economically literate and able to understand and evaluate critical issues of public policy; and
WHEREAS, it is incumbent upon the Commonwealth to support initiatives that promote and advance economic education; and
WHEREAS, public and private sector organizations, as well as educators across the Commonwealth are dedicated to ensuring that Virginia’s students become economically literate; and
WHEREAS, economic education helps students understand how our economy works and equips them to succeed in Virginia’s diverse, talented, and high-impact workforce; and,
WHEREAS, economic education equips students with the knowledge needed to become successful entrepreneurs, productive workers, prudent consumers and investors, and informed residents; and
WHEREAS, it is important to encourage all Virginians to recognize the educational resources available to students; and
WHEREAS, Economic Education Month is an opportunity to promote economic education and encourage entrepreneurship;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize October 2021 as ECONOMIC EDUCATION MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
