WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia is recognized as a global hub for data centers, a leader in technology, digital, and connected infrastructure, and cybersecurity in an increasingly digital and virtual society; and
WHEREAS, information technology professionals develop, connect, and protect the transfer of sensitive data across the Commonwealth through operational excellence and cyber resiliency; and
WHEREAS, Virginia’s information technology specialists, partners, and the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) continue to power the Commonwealth’s ongoing digital response to the COVID-19 pandemic in order to sustain critical government functions and connectivity for Virginians; and
WHEREAS, Information Technology Appreciation Week recognizes and celebrates the continuous contributions that information technology professionals provide to enhancing quality of life, enabling education, expanding businesses and jobs, driving economic success, and innovating for future generations for all residents of Virginia;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize September 20-24, 2021, as INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONALS APPRECIATION WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
