WHEREAS, the mission of the Virginia Lakes and Watersheds Association is to promote and educate the public on good lake and watershed management, encourage sustainable storm water management practices, and protect the welfare of lakes and other water resources; and
WHEREAS, lakes and reservoirs are among the Commonwealth’s most valuable natural resources that provide numerous resources for both Virginian’s and wildlife; and
WHEREAS, these beneficial uses have been of vital importance to Virginia’s history, growth, and financial health; and
WHEREAS, our lakes and reservoirs improve the quality of life for all Virginia’s residents, which is of utmost importance; and
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia recognizes the need to protect these lakes and reservoirs for future generations;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize July 2021 as LAKES APPRECIATION MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
