WHEREAS, it is important to recognize and honor the dedication of mothers to their families and communities; and
WHEREAS, mothers have an tremendous impact on their children and are instrumental in helping them reach their full potential; and
WHEREAS, mothers are role models to children and demonstrate unwavering commitment, compassion, and leadership; and
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth is strengthened by the many community organizations that promote responsible motherhood and celebrate mothers as exceptional caretakers, providers, and mentors; and
WHEREAS, Mother’s Day is an opportunity to pay special tribute to the mothers across the Commonwealth, and those serving overseas in the Armed Forces who are unable to share this day with their families;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize May 13, 2018, as MOTHER’S DAY in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
