National Parental Involvement Day


WHEREAS, the well-being, health, and safety of families is important to all Virginians; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia commends and encourages the work of parents and caregivers who support and are involved in their child’s education; and

WHEREAS, parents provide essential nurturing relationships that are the building blocks for healthy development, and strong families provide safety and security to children which fosters the development of well-adjusted, productive adults; and

WHEREAS, through active partnerships and by working directly with their children’s schools and community, parents can help to build a solid academic foundation upon which their children can thrive; and

WHEREAS, National Parental Involvement Day highlights the importance and value of parents in rearing their children to the benefit of their families, communities, and our great Commonwealth and nation; and

WHEREAS, this is an opportunity for our nation to demonstrate its support for parents and to educate the public on the seriousness of family engagement in America’s public schools; and

WHEREAS, November 18, 2021 is the 28th Annual National Parental Involvement Day, which is held on the third Thursday of November during American Education Week;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize November 18, 2021, as NATIONAL PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT DAY in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
