WHEREAS, the President of the United States and United States Congress have established the second week of April as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week; and
WHEREAS, this week is a time to honor the telecommunications personnel in the public safety community; and
WHEREAS, emergencies can occur at any time that require police, fire, or emergency medical services; and
WHEREAS, Public Safety Telecommunicators are the first and most critical contact our citizens have with emergency services and provide lifesaving services; and
WHEREAS, Public Safety Telecommunicators exhibit compassion, understanding, and professionalism in order to keep our communities safe; and
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth recognizes these unseen public safety heroes and are grateful for their continued ability to act fast and remain calm in high-stress situations;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize April 11-17, 2021, as NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
