Virginia Community Gardening Week


WHEREAS, community gardeners have a passion for nurturing the beauty and resources of the earth through planting seeds and caring for plants; and

WHEREAS, gardeners seek to add beauty, splendor, and nutrition to their lives through the growing of herbs, vegetables, fruits, nuts and flowers; and

WHEREAS, they work to preserve our country's traditional spirit of independence and initiative through innovation and hard work; and

WHEREAS, advocating for the importance of all creatures that share our world in a balanced and productive ecology is vital to all gardeners; and

WHEREAS, gardening furnishes a challenging and productive activity for all residents of the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, gardening helps promotes a healthy lifestyle, reduces stress, and teaches that rewards can come from diligent efforts; and

WHEREAS, gardening enables those around the world to make a difference in their communities;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize September 23-26, 2021, as VIRGINIA COMMUNITY GARDENING WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
