Virginia Drinking Water Week


WHEREAS, the health, safety, and well-being of all Virginians are of utmost importance to the prosperity and livelihood of our Commonwealth’s families and communities; and

WHEREAS, Virginia’s streams, lakes, rivers, watersheds, and other clean water sources must be protected to maintain the good health of our citizens, wildlife, and fisheries; and

WHEREAS, protecting Virginia’s natural water supply and other natural resources is vital to the preservation of our environment for future generations of Virginians; and

WHEREAS, elected officials at each level of government, as well as businesses and citizens throughout the Commonwealth, are responsible for ensuring that all Virginians have access to clean, healthy drinking water; and

WHEREAS, it is the duty of all Virginians to preserve our supply of clean drinking water for future generations, and to obey laws that protect Virginia’s water supply for our use and to support Virginia’s diverse ecosystem;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ralph S. Northam, do hereby recognize May 7-13, 2018, as VIRGINIA DRINKING WATER WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
