In February of 2018, Sean Sweeney was appointed as Deputy Director of the Virginia Office of Intergovernmental Affairs by Governor Ralph Northam.
Prior to his appointment, Sean served as a legislative correspondent for Senator Mark Warner. In that capacity, he worked on budget, entrepreneurship, technology, and telecommunications policy. He also served as the research coordinator for the office, vetting grant applications and maintaining records of the senator’s votes, positions, and public statements. Sean previously served as Senator Warner’s state scheduler and as a research assistant on his 2014 reelection campaign.
Sean is a native of Massachusetts and a graduate of the College of William & Mary, where he studied International Relations. He lives in Alexandria with his wife, Sarah.
