Governor Glenn Youngkin Announces Additional Administration and Board Appointments

RICHMOND, VA  Governor Glenn Youngkin today has announced additional key administration and board appointments. 

"Today I welcome this group of individuals to serve in my administration and on various boards across Virginia," said Governor Glenn Youngkin. "I look forward to their service for the Commonwealth."

 

ADMINISTRATION APPOINTMENTS 

 

  • Martin Brown, Chief Diversity, Opportunity, and Inclusion Officer 

 

Martin Brown comes to the Governor's Office with a unique portfolio of public policy and managerial experience, in state government and private practice arenas. As Commissioner of the Department of Social Services, Martin focused on improving the delivery of benefits and services to Virginia families, with a focus on adoption successes and foster care related benefits to more than 1 million Virginians. He also served as Governor McDonnell's Special Advisor for Reintegration of State Offenders, implementing a statewide program to facilitate skills training and provide family and parenting relationship tools to reduce recidivism and provide supports to children of incarcerated parents. The program became a best-practice model expanded statewide by the Department of Corrections. A graduate of Howard University, Martin has previously served as a Visiting Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, as a Founding Board Member of the Gloucester Institute, and as an Advisory Task Force Member for the Richmond City Health Department. 

 

  • Cheryl Roberts, Director, Department of Medical Assistance Services 

 

A veteran leader of the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services, Cheryl is taking the reins of the organization with a focus on improving access and stable health care delivery for two million Virginians. As a recognized nationwide leader in state Medicaid service delivery, Cheryl has provided direct oversight and leadership for the Managed Care Program, which provides maternal and child services, oral health care services, and strategic planning for emerging health care issues. Before joining state government, Cheryl was the Chief Operating Officer for Virginia Chartered Health Plan and an Assistant Vice-President of Emblem Health Inc. Cheryl earned her law degree from Rutgers Law School and has lived in Virginia for over twenty years.
