Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia
By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Automotive Service Professionals Month
WHEREAS, today's motor vehicles are highly complex with more advanced technology than ever before requiring specialized tools and highly trained professionals to perform vehicle repairs; and,
WHEREAS, there are nearly 20,000 men and women employed as maintenance and repair technicians at general repair shops, vehicle dealerships and service stations across the Commonwealth of Virginia; and,
WHEREAS, these automotive service professionals perform essential service to Virginians, keeping customer vehicles in safe, dependable operating condition; and,
WHEREAS, these professionals must continue to keep up-to-date on ever-evolving vehicle systems and technologies to effectively perform vehicle maintenance and repairs; and,
WHEREAS, the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) helps car owners easily identify automotive professionals who have proven themselves to be competent and knowledgeable; and,
WHEREAS, over 6,000 technicians have earned ASE Certification in the Commonwealth, requiring qualified work experience, passing a challenging test for each certification, and retesting every five years to keep certifications current; and,
WHEREAS, ASE is celebrating 50 years of independent certification of skilled, knowledgeable automotive service professionals; and,
WHEREAS, the citizens of the Commonwealth recognize and appreciate the critical service provided by these essential workers that keep the car owners of Virginia on the road;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize June 2022 as AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE PROFESSIONALS MONTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
