Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Betsy Davis Beamer Day
WHEREAS, Betsy Davis Beamer has devoted decades of service to the Commonwealth of Virginia as a trusted public servant, civic leader, and advisor, strengthening institutions that support good government and vibrant communities; and
WHEREAS, she served as Secretary of the Commonwealth of Virginia from 1994 to 1998, where she managed gubernatorial appointments, advanced civic engagement, and upheld the integrity of the offices and boards that serve our citizens; and
WHEREAS, following her service in state government, she continued her commitment to the Commonwealth as Director of Planning and Organization at McGuireWoods Consulting, drawing on her extensive experience in government, campaigns, and community leadership; and
WHEREAS, Betsy D. Beamer has given generously of her time and talent to civic and nonprofit organizations focused on health care, education, public safety, and community welfare, reflecting her steadfast dedication to uplifting others; and
WHEREAS, as a proud alumna and Board of Visitors member of Radford University, she has championed higher education, supported student success, and invested in future generations of Virginians through mentorship and scholarship efforts; and
WHEREAS, she has provided exemplary leadership on the Citizens’ Advisory Council on Furnishing and Interpreting the Executive Mansion, working closely with First Ladies and Mansion staff to preserve, interpret, and enhance the “People’s House” for visitors from across the Commonwealth and around the world; and
WHEREAS, through her thoughtful stewardship, collaborative spirit, and attention to history and hospitality, she has helped strengthen the educational mission of the Executive Mansion and deepen public appreciation for Virginia’s story; and
WHEREAS, she and her husband, Jim, have raised two daughters who reflect their family’s strong values of service and community, and together they have remained active and engaged Virginians who care deeply about the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Betsy D. Beamer’s life of service, personal integrity, and love for the Commonwealth have strengthened the Spirit of Virginia and set a standard of leadership worthy of the highest recognition;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize December 10, 2025, as BETSY DAVIS BEAMER DAY in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
