By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Bolivian Independence Day
WHEREAS, Bolivia celebrated its first independence day on August 6, 1825, upon the signing of its declaration of independence; and
WHEREAS, Northern Virginia is home to one of the largest Bolivian populations in the United States; and
WHEREAS, community resources educate new Bolivian American citizens on civics and their patriotic duties; and
WHEREAS, Virginia's Bolivian community enriches the Commonwealth with its traditions, food, culture, and significant contributions to the workforce and economic growth in Virginia; and
WHEREAS, each year in observance of Bolivia's independence, Virginians can enjoy a variety of foods, musical groups, and cultural performances representing the nine departments of Bolivia; and
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia celebrates Bolivian Independence Day along with families, organizers, and participants throughout Virginia;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize August 6, 2024, as BOLIVIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
