Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists Week

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

WHEREAS, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are highly educated and skilled practitioners who provide anesthesia care to thousands of Virginians each year; and

WHEREAS, CRNAs have been providing high-quality, cost-effective anesthesia care for more than 150 years, safely administering anesthesia to millions of patients each year; and

WHEREAS, there are more than 60,000 CRNAs and student nurse anesthetists throughout the United States including over 1,800 CRNAs and more than 250 student nurse anesthetists in Virginia; and

WHEREAS, CRNAs practice in every setting in which anesthesia is delivered: hospital surgical suites and obstetrical delivery rooms; ambulatory surgical centers; the offices of surgeons, dentists and pain management specialists; and U.S. Military and Public Health Services and Veterans Administration medical facilities; and

WHEREAS, Virginia is proud to honor and recognize the service of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists to the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize January 22-28, 2023, as CERTIFIED REGISTERED NURSE ANESTHETISTS WEEK in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
