Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia
By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Child Care and Early Childhood Professionals Day
WHEREAS, the health and safety of all Virginians is important to the happiness, well-being, and prosperity of our Commonwealth’s families and communities; and
WHEREAS, every child in Virginia is a precious individual, full of promise and great potential; and
WHEREAS, 69.8% (379,275) of children under age 6 and 70.9% (519,266) of children aged 6 to 13 in Virginia have working parents in need of safe, quality care and learning opportunities; and
WHEREAS, Virginia’s child care and early childhood professionals work daily to ensure our children’s safety, health, and well-being, and further children’s educational and social skills; and
WHEREAS, it is important to encourage professional behavior and practice among those who have chosen to assist families in safeguarding and nurturing children; and
WHEREAS, Child Care and Early Childhood Professionals Day is an opportunity to recognize the efforts of those who are working to nurture, teach, and care for our children and to strengthen Virginia’s future; and
WHEREAS, the child and early care professions are critical to the economic infrastructure of our Commonwealth, to serving the needs of essential personnel, and to supporting the continued growth of Virginia’s workforce;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize May 9, 2025, as CHILD CARE AND EARLY CHILDHOOD PROFESSIONALS DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens.
