By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Crime Victim Service Professionals' Day

WHEREAS, every year thousands of crimes are committed against victims who reside in every part of the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, everyday crime victim service professionals throughout the Commonwealth provide aid, care, support, and compensation to innocent victims of violent crimes; and

WHEREAS, crime victim service professionals spend countless hours ensuring that victims’ rights pursuant to federal and state laws are honored and respected; and

WHEREAS, crime victim service professionals help survivors seek justice and recovery through compassionate support and advocacy while preserving individual dignity and respect; and

WHEREAS, crime victim service professionals reach victims through innovative, trauma-informed services, and increase access to areas that have been historically underserved and otherwise adversely affected; and

WHEREAS, crime victim service professionals include victim advocates, victim response team professionals, victim crisis responders, victim support service professionals, victim services administrators, and victim compensation professionals; and

WHEREAS, Crime Victim Service Professionals’ Day provides an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the important contributions of highly skilled crime victim service professionals to supporting victims and our justice system alike; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth is committed to professional victim services, advocacy, and compensation; and Virginia expresses sincere gratitude to the professionals who provide hope and recovery to victims of crime;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize April 26, 2023, as CRIME VICTIM SERVICE PROFESSIONALS’ DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
