Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
CRPS Awareness Month
WHEREAS, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), is a rare nerve disorder characterized by severe, chronic pain; and
WHEREAS, the symptoms of CRPS/RSD are often described as intense, burning pain that is disproportionate to the original injury and may include swelling and extreme sensitivity to touch; and
WHEREAS, while CRPS/RSD was first identified during the Civil War, it remains a poorly understood condition with no known cure; and
WHEREAS, while no standard treatment for CRPS/RSD has been established, early diagnosis and management of symptoms are essential to improving quality of life for those affected; and
WHEREAS, the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, along with other institutes within the National Institutes of Health, continues to support research related to CRPS/RSD; and
WHEREAS, members of the CRPS/RSD community will promote awareness throughout November and will recognize the 12th annual Color the World Orange Day on November 3, 2025, to highlight this complex and often misunderstood pain disorder;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize November 2025 as CRPS AWARENESS MONTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
