By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Denise Lynch Day

WHEREAS, Denise Lynch received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University and has provided decades of outstanding care to patients at MCV/VCU Health since 1989; and

WHEREAS, since 2010, Denise has served as the Nurse Liaison to the Access Support and Assistance Program (ASAP) at VCU Health, guiding patients through the VCU system; and

WHEREAS, in 2013, Sandy, Dan, and Jess Schmidt established the Service Excellence Award to honor Denise for the exceptional care she provided to their family, with the award intended to recognize VCU Health employees who exemplify her standard of excellence; and

WHEREAS, Denise has been honored with the President’s Service Excellence Award from VCU, the VCU School of Nursing Alumni Award, the Jerome Strauss Award for Extraordinary Service to VCU, and the Nurse Hero Award; and in 2017, she was inducted into the Order of the Knights of the Round Table by the VCU Health Shining Knights at the VCU Trauma Center’s Shining Knight Gala; and

WHEREAS, Denise serves on the Board for the William G. Reynolds Foundation, the Community Bank Board for Blue Ridge Bank, and the Massey Cancer Advisory Board; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her exemplary service to patients at VCU Health, Denise has provided care to multiple Virginia Governors and First Families, as well as the Governor’s staff; and

WHEREAS, Denise Lynch’s skill, professionalism, and dedication have earned the gratitude and respect of the Youngkin administration and countless Virginians, strengthening the Spirit of Virginia and reflecting a legacy of service worthy of the highest recognition;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize November 17, 2025, as DENISE LYNCH DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
