Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Economic Education Month
WHEREAS, economics is the study of making sound decisions in managing scarce resources, an essential skill for all Virginians to thrive in their personal, professional, and civic lives; and
WHEREAS, economic education equips students with the knowledge and skills to serve as productive workers, informed consumers and savers, engaged citizens, and lifelong decision‑makers in a globally interconnected world; and
WHEREAS, economic education ensures every student graduates with the economic knowledge and financial skills to succeed, serving as a driver of statewide economic development through workforce training and human capital investment in both teachers and students; and
WHEREAS, by preparing educators with high‑quality training and resources, economic education strengthens every sector of Virginia’s economy and cultivates economically literate citizens capable of evaluating the critical public policy issues that shape the long‑term health of our Commonwealth and our nation; and
WHEREAS, public awareness of the importance of economic and financial literacy reinforces Virginia’s democratic institutions, fosters innovation, and supports the Commonwealth’s long‑term prosperity;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize October 2025, as ECONOMIC EDUCATION MONTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
