By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Father's Day

WHEREAS, the gift of fatherhood requires commitment and dedication to the raising and preparing of children to grow into productive, positive adults; and,

WHEREAS, fathers provide endless love and support for their children; and,

WHEREAS, fathers teach by example the values of love, trust, work, responsibility, and faithfulness to family and others; and,

WHEREAS, fathers have the skill and strength to meet the needs of a family and the discernment to recognize a child’s need for unconditional parental love; and,

WHEREAS, fathers impart to their sons and daughters a sense of heritage, duty, and responsibilities as part of their family, friends, community, and country; and,

WHEREAS, fathers take on the challenges of their many family roles out of love, reverence, and respect of family responsibility; and,

WHEREAS, we set aside the third Sunday in June to honor our fathers for their valuable contributions and selfless sacrifice on behalf of each of us, our nation, and the Commonwealth, as they strengthen the Spirit of Virginia;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize June 19, 2022 as FATHER’S DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA and call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
