Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia
By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Financial Literacy Month
WHEREAS, it is essential that Virginians of all ages be financially literate, responsible, and able to properly manage money, credit, and debt; and
WHEREAS, United States consumer debt totaled more than $17.94 trillion in 2024, and delinquency rates increased to 3.5%; and
WHEREAS, Americans owed $1.77 trillion in student loans as of 2024; and
WHEREAS, Americans increased credit card debt in 2024 by $24 billion, reaching a new high of $1.17 trillion; and
WHEREAS, public, community-based, and private sector organizations throughout the Commonwealth are working to educate the public on personal finance and increasing financial literacy for Virginians of all ages; and
WHEREAS, it is important to educate Virginians of the many educational resources available and to encourage responsible financial planning and personal budgeting;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize April 2025, as FINANCIAL LITERACY MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens.
