Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia
By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Future Business Leaders of America Week
WHEREAS, Future Business Leaders of America, Inc. (FBLA) is a non-profit educational organization whose first high school chapter was established in Johnson City, Tennessee in 1942; and
WHEREAS, FBLA is the largest career and technical student organization in the world dedicated to bringing business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs; and
WHEREAS, FBLA includes more than 250,000 members and advisers in 4,600 chapters nationwide in middle schools, high schools, colleges, universities, career and technical schools, and private business schools; and
WHEREAS, Virginia FBLA engages students enrolled in business and information technology courses in over 400 middle and high schools throughout the Commonwealth and teaches students basic business principles that assist in the transition from school to work; and
WHEREAS, students develop leadership, critical thinking, collaboration, time management, career preparation, and workforce development abilities through their participation in FBLA; and
WHEREAS, student members demonstrate improved confidence, academic excellence, and social responsibility through their active involvement in their school FBLA chapter; and
WHEREAS, Virginia FBLA hosts two statewide leadership conferences including the Virginia FBLA Foundation Learn to Lead Fall Conference and the Virginia FBLA State Leadership Conference; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the statewide leadership conferences, 22 regional leadership opportunities, along with many community service activities, are offered throughout the state during the school year with the goal of building a student’s understanding of the business world;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize February 11-17, 2024, as FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA WEEK in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
