Gold Star Spouses Day

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

WHEREAS, the U.S. Senate designated Gold Star Spouses Day to be recognized each year to acknowledge those grieving wives and husbands who became members of an exclusive community no one asks to join; and

WHEREAS, organizations like the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, provide compassionate care to those grieving the death of a military loved one; and

WHEREAS, on April 5, 2023, Virginians will honor and recognize the surviving loved ones of military service members who died while serving their country; and

WHEREAS, on this day, citizens of the Commonwealth express their gratitude to those spouses who serve, just as their loved ones, to protect the freedoms that our country enjoys; and

WHEREAS, Virginians welcome the opportunity to pay special tribute to the families of those brave men and women who kept our nation safe;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize April 5, 2023, as GOLD STAR SPOUSES DAY in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
