By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Irish American Heritage Month

Whereas, in October 1990, the 101st United States Congress passed Public Law 101-418, which established March 1991 as Irish American Heritage Month, and the president issues a proclamation commemorating the occasion each year; and,

Whereas, generations of Irishmen and women have helped shape the idea of America, overcoming hardship and strife through strength and sacrifice, faith, and family; and,

Whereas, as we celebrate Irish American Heritage Month, we recognize the Irish people's contributions to our country; and,

Whereas, the Irish are inextricably linked to the growth of the United States in fields ranging from literature, education and science, to politics, law enforcement and military; and,

Whereas, we owe a debt of gratitude to the Irish American inventors and entrepreneurs who have helped define our country as the land of opportunity; and,

Whereas, we celebrate the sacrifices and contributions that generations of Irish Americans have made to build a better America, and we renew the bonds of friendship that will forever tie Ireland and the United States;

Now, Therefore, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize March 2022 as IRISH AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
