By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Korean American Day

WHEREAS, the first Korean immigrants arrived in the United States on January 13, 1903; and

WHEREAS, today, 120 years after the first immigrants arrival, Korean Americans have demonstrated a significant influence in all facets of Virginian and American culture including business, the arts, and education; and

WHEREAS, the Korean American population in Virginia is over 66,000, the sixth largest in the United States; and

WHEREAS, Korean Americans have made significant contributions to the economic vitality of Virginia, the nation, and the global marketplace; and

WHEREAS, Korean Americans add value to businesses, churches, academic communities, and our United States military in Virginia and the nation; and

WHEREAS, Korean American Day is an opportunity to recognize our Korean American community as important and valued members of the Commonwealth, whose abilities and contributions strengthen the Spirit of Virginia;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize January 13, 2023, as KOREAN AMERICAN DAY in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
