Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Learning Disabilities Awareness Month
WHEREAS, acknowledging people with specific learning disabilities and learning how to be supportive and empathetic strengthens our community; and
WHEREAS, approximately 2.28 million school-age students in the United States and 54,526 Virginia students have been identified as having a specific learning disability; and
WHEREAS, specific learning disabilities encompass a range of neurological conditions that interfere with the ability to store, process, or produce information; and
WHEREAS, these learning disabilities may include dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and other related disorders that affect reading, writing, mathematics, and other critical skills; and
WHEREAS, early identification of and appropriate educational support are critical to the well-being and success of individuals with specific learning disabilities; and
WHEREAS, as awareness and understanding increase across the Commonwealth, more Virginians with learning disabilities will have even greater opportunity to lead full and productive lives and make valuable contributions to our society;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize October 2025, as LEARNING DISABILITIES AWARENESS MONTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
